Nearly 18,000 Kiwi troops served in the New Zealand Mounted Rifles Brigade alongside five Australian Light Horse brigades in the Sinai desert and in Palestine during what was one of the most successful military campaigns of WW1.

In contrast to the European War, casualties were remarkably light among the horse soldiers due in part to their mobility and in part, to the skill of their commanders. The courage, determination and endurance of these ANZACS helped to alter the shape of the Middle East and was an important precursor to the formation of the State of Israel, yet after their return home in 1919.

Their legacy was almost forgotten. This is a multi-media presentation which will also report on centennial commemorations of the NZMR Brigade in Israel during 2017 and 2018.
