The Festival of Pots & Garden Art, was first established in 2009, as an opportunity for crafts people to exhibit & sell their work at one pleasant location.

The Festival is a major fundraiser for the Pottery Club of Otaki, with the money raised contributing the management of the Pottery Club, which boasts some 80 members. The Club provides tutors for adult pottery education classes & also a children's programme called “clay in schools”, in the local schools.

It also actively encourages the community to participate in pottery, with an annual public “Raku”, in December each year, held in the Otaki College grounds.

Public response to past Festivals has been so great, that it has necessitated in extending the Festival for a week (starting on Wellington Anniversary weekend).

Over 50 potters & artists from the lower north island are contributing to the Festival. All forms and styles of Pottery & Ceramics are exhibited for sale, including large sculptural pieces, featuring wood & stone carvings. Light refreshments will also be available.

Various potters & artists, provide demonstrations of their craft, enabling the public to observe the creation of some truly magic forms.

This year we’re featuring the work of: Julie Collis, Peter Collis & George Thompson. (Check www.festival.com guests-exhibitors, for Bio’ details).

The venue is called “Anam Cara”, at 150 Rangiuru Road, Otaki. The owners Teresa & Tim Grigg have generously allowed the Pottery Club the use of their beautiful grounds in this 10 acre gem of established trees and shrubs.

The Festival commences on Saturday the 20st to Sunday the 28th January 2017.
