Brief Gig By-Line
" …presents the Leading Serbian Roma violinist Branko Ristic – a ‘performer that Paganini would be proud of’ (BBC Radio 3), and UK ‘nimble fingered accordionist’ Faith Ristic (The Times), perform high-energy virtuosic original Roma/Jazz influenced music with their international quartet."

Brief Bio/Live performance:
From a foundation of ‘Serbian-Roma’ music, husband and wife – Faith and Branko Ristic – have created a style that draws from both of their musical heritages and expresses their unique cross cultural personal connection.

They are currently touring New Zealand and Australia with their Quartet – consisting of Cypriot born Serbian Guitarist Stefan Melovski and Serbian born Double Bassist Viktor Obsust.

The duo combines the accordion, violin, effects pedal and tabor pipe with double bass and guitar to take the audience on a journey from melancholy Roma violin laments to storming ‘kolos’ and explorations into improvisation, Turkish, Indian and Jazz influenced compositions.

They are currently recording their latest PRS-Sponsored Album, to be released with World Music Network after the success of their previous album ‘Gypsy Lover’ (10th in the European World Music Charts/WOMEX award winning), recorded with Emir Kusturica and produced by Harry Potter composer Nicholas Hooper.

Recent performance highlights include The Royal Festival Hall; The Southbank Centre; Bristol Old Vic Theatre; The Houses of Parliament; Wilderness Festival; Boomtown Festival; Henley Festival; Bestival, and a 2017 Summer European Tour. Radio play includes BBC Radio 3 Heritage Tracks, World Service with Stephen Fry and 6 Music.

Door sales from 7pm.
