Join us at the Hocken on Tuesday 30 October, 2.00pm, for a viewing of selected artworks by Douglas MacDiarmid. This viewing follows a talk by Anna Cahill at the Dunedin Public Art Gallery on her newly published book 'Colours of A Life: The Life and Times of Douglas MacDiarmid'.

Event details as follows:
12.30pm, Dunedin Public Art Gallery: Anna Cahill, Dunedin-raised writer based in Brisbane will talk about her newly published biography of painter Douglas MacDiarmid, who left New Zealand for Europe as a young man. He was friends with Rita Angus, Charles Brasch, the Curnows, Theo Schoon and Frank Sargeson amongst others. Almost 96, he now lives in Paris. Free. All welcome.

2.00pm, Hocken Collections, 90 Anzac Ave: View a selection of Douglas MacDiarmid’s artworks from the extensive holdings in the Hocken Collections. The viewing will be followed by afternoon tea. Free. All welcome.
