We will all die. Yet we don’t talk about death and dying very much. Currently, and for the most part, a small group of people manage death for us behind closed doors. We are increasingly unlikely to know what options are available to us and those we care about.

Join Coroner Marcus Elliott, death studies expert Dr Ruth McManus, death doulah Melanie Mayell and cultural studies lecturer Erin Harrington - all contributors to Freerange Press's new book Death and Dying in New Zealand – for a discussion on the ways we approach death, and how this reveals much about our values and how we live.

From DIY funerals and new technologies to funeral poverty, this discussion will be wide ranging, and is free and open to the public.

The Teece Museum's current exhibition 'Beyond the grave: death in ancient times' also explores these themes and is currently showing. Make sure you visit!

Copies of the book will be available for purchase and signing. Beverages will be served.
