  • Christmas Charity Concert: $20.00

Lava Glass is excited to announce an open-air Charity Christmas Concert to be held in the beautiful sculpture garden on the 9th of December.

The event will raise funds for local Taupo charity 'The Full Puku Project' to hand out Christmas hampers to families who may struggle through the Christmas period.

The concert will take place from 2 to 4 pm on Sunday, 9th of December in the Lava Glass Sculpture Garden with the young, talented singer-songwriter Michaela Pointon delighting the audience with her happy cheerful repertoire of cover and original songs. Admission to the concert is $20 per person with $10 per ticket sold going directly to The Full Puku Project.

The entrance fee includes a snack box, with sweet and savoury treats to be eaten in the garden while enjoying the Xmas cheer. Tickets are available at the door on the day. Additionally, a beautiful piece of glass art will be raffled. Raffle tickets will be $5 each with the profit going directly to ‘The Full Puku Project’, too.

The Full Puku Project is a local Taupo Charity. Its main focus is to provide food for vulnerable children, making sure they get the nutrition they need. The team at The Full Puku Project sets up meal stations in selected areas at certain times during weekends. The charity has a judgment-free policy where kids collecting a meal will not be judged in any way. The Full Puku Project also acts in compliance with health and safety standards to ensure the food it serves is safe for the kids.

Lava Glass is comprised of a glass art gallery, glassblowing studio, glass sculpture garden and café. Founded in 2002 by one of New Zealand’s leading glass artists Lynden Over and Christine Robb, the complex offers unique New Zealand inspired glass art and a fascinating window into the world of glassmaking.

The Lava Glass Sculpture Garden features more than 600 handcrafted glass sculptures and is the only garden of its kind in New Zealand. The New Zealand Gardens Trust has endorsed it as a ‘Garden of National Significance’.
