The Muscular Dystrophy Association of NZ covers around 60 neuromuscular conditions that are are mostly rare and mostly genetic (Neuromuscular conditions is a broad umbrella term that describes a variety of muscle disorders). Progressive muscle wasting leads to loss of mobility and independence, and there are often major impacts on organ systems, which can result in early loss of life. Symptoms can appear at birth or for others not until much later in life. These conditions can be unpredictable and there are limited treatment options.

If you can't attend but would like to contribute or support the work that Penny, our Hawkes Bay based fieldworker, does, please contribute to our give a little page.
