Joint Exhibition of work from Alex Wilkinson and Lee Samuel, based on the theme of Boundaries.

Exhibition will be including print, painting, drawing and ceramic work. We would love to have you support for our personal art practises.

Alex and Lee are both Artists working across multiple disciplines and subjects. With the aim of moving their artistic practices forward, they set themselves a theme of ‘Boundaries' for this exhibition, and worked separately on their own interpretation. Alex discovered a concept called an ‘Ecotone’ - an area where large ecosystems cross over, creating a large number of species in an area of tension as well as life force.

Lee was attracted to the idea of boundaries between what is recognisable and what is comfortable - exploring the level of satisfaction the viewer or artist might desire. As Lee and Alex have been working closely in many areas of life, the inevitable relationship between their practices has become obvious, all the while blurring a boundary of its own in the process.

Alex and Lee have been working together Since 2017 setting up their business Studio Two in Te Awamutu. Being consumed with the every day pressures of life and running a business, they realised early on they would need to actively carve out time to pursue their own artistic practices. Booking this exhibition and setting a theme early in the year has given them a reason to make the time for their own artistic practices.
