Try your hand at the ancient art of blacksmithing with the talented and passionate team at Kowhai Forge.

Suitable for beginners, you have the choice to choose what your would like to create over the course, and best of all - you get to take your own piece of art home with you!

Your tutor, Rob, is one of the true time served Blacksmiths in New Zealand. Rob teaches with lots of enthusiasm and Kiwi humor, so you know you’ll have a great time!

His passion, skill, and deep understanding this fascinating skill ensures you a truly authentic experience into the world of Blacksmithing in New Zealand.

Situated in the beautiful central North Island, the blacksmith forge is set in perfect environment for inspiration and creativity!

Fantastic year round - in the summer months the large forge doors are opened to let the sunshine in and in the winter months you will be cozy and warm inside by the coal fire.

Included: Safety glasses and ear protection
What to bring: Long trousers, sturdy shoes (no open toes)

Please visit our website to reserve your place and choose between a half day or full day course

Half-day experience in the forge.

Make a fire poker, a wall hook, a herb knife, a handle, or let us know in advance an item of your choice to make sure we have the right materials at hand!

Morning tea provided.
Full day experience in the forge. More time, better projects!

There will be a range of ideas available (knives, hooks, handles, pokers etc.) but feel free to let us know in advance if you have a specific piece you would like to make!
