Cookbooks are no longer merely compilations of recipes. Amber Rose and Fiona Summerfield explore food writing and how food is part of our culture.

After several years living in the UK, where she was private chef to Sadie Frost and Jude Law, Rose has returned to her roots with her third cookbook, Wild Delicious. Summerfield lives in Lower Moutere and is a contributing author to Kai and culture: Food stories from Aotearoa.

Amber Rose is a food writer and cook who grew up in rural New Zealand surrounded by organic gardens and heritage produce. She has traveled the world cooking and working in cafes and restaurants, and spent several years in the UK where she was a private chef to Sadie Frost and Jude Law before becoming a doula, giving nutritional advice and cooking for new mums. She is the author of two cookbooks, Love Bake Nourish and The Wholefood Pantry. She lives north of Auckland.

Fiona Summerfield is a freelance writer. She and her husband operated Summerfields Foods in Christchurch prior to the earthquakes. In late 2015 the family moved to the Lower Moutere, where they began the journey towards self-sufficiency.

Fiona was a recipient of the New Zealand Society of Authors 2016 Complete Manuscript Assessment Programme. When not preserving, cooking or gardening, she blogs at somewherewriting.blogspot.co.nz.
