With tensions mounting along the border on both sides, the ghosts of partition continue to haunt India and Pakistan 72 years after the fateful stroke of a bureaucratic pen carved out two nations from a land mass that had remained a single entity since time immemorial.

People on both sides of the line continue to grapple with the cruel and divisive reality of a forced boundary.

But music knows no boundaries. Certainly not among the large South Asian diaspora who have chosen to study, work and settle in New Zealand.

Arif Lohar (Pakistan) and Kanwar Grewal (India) - two of the finest exponents of Sufi and Punjabi folk music - are coming together for the first time for the concert at Auckland's Vodafone Events Center on Saturday, October 20th, 7 PM onward. The event is organized by NZ Future Community Trust, a non-profit organization that aims to secure a sustainable and integrated future for New Zealand's diverse communities, and promoted by JK Star Productions.

India and Pakistan have a long, shared tradition of Punjabi folk and Sufi music. The Auckland concert aims to showcase the brotherhood, very much evident between people of the two countries, owing to a shared civilization, culture, heritage, and traditions.

The concert is priced at a nominal NZD 15 per ticket and is open to people of all age groups. Do not miss it for anything!
