Mary Shelley's Frankenstein has become the most famous gothic novel of the Romantic period. Now, more than ever, its concerns ring true: the ethics and moral limits of scientific experimentation, parental responsibility, duty of care and compassion, nature vs nurture, and the limits of humanity.

This one-day seminar offers a contextual reading of the novel, not its adaptations for film and stage. The day includes a leisurely two-hour lunch break so you can consider Frankenstein between sessions.
