Diane Levy’s approach is a long way from “praise or punish.” She will show us how she developed a different way of thinking about our children’s anger, how to sort out whether we are dealing with a wobbly of control, upset or despair and practical suggestions about what we can do.

She will also show us a way of helping our children look at options for problem-solving.

When to Growl and When to Cuddle & Getting Our Children to Do As They Are Told. - Diane Levy

Diane Levy believes that a well-behaved child can be a pleasure to be with. If only we can just get them to behave, we are freed up to enjoy their company.

With highly practical, what-to-do strategies, Diane shows us effective steps to get our children to do as they are asked. She tackles the difficult topics of hitting, biting, snatching, swearing and how to sort out the sort of mayhem that can happen when we deal with sibling scraps. Diane will also show us how to help children plan.

An evening of two halves. Helping our children cope with their sad and angry feelings.
The Four Strands of Parenting:

Diane Levy is a household name in New Zealand, known as the person you turn to when you are having trouble managing children or the childish people in your life. She is a counsellor, Family Therapist, Speaker and Author of “Of course I love you…now go to your room!” Which was on the Booksellers’ Bestseller List for 2004, “They look so lovely when they’re asleep” and “Time Out for Tots, Teens and Everyone in Between.” In 2005 she was the Therapist/Presenter of the television programme “Demons to Darlings.”

Diane is known for her practical, informative and humorous approach to the problems that beset parents, educators, couples and families – whether at work or at home. She believes that it is important that we support our children’s feelings and put boundaries on their inappropriate behaviour so that we raise children who are pleasant to be with so we will want to spend more time in their company.

Diane sees Parenting as a twenty-year commitment to raising a young adult who is ethical, self-disciplined, emotionally independent and has all the necessary skills to survive in an increasingly complex world.

Diane and Vernon have three children - Robert, Tanya and Deborah, and have upgraded to grandparents of 13-year-old Zack and 12-year-old Dani – per courtesy of their lovely daughter-in-law, Julie - so anything that Diane may recommend to others has been tested "in the field." Diane has had refresher courses with her five-year-old granddaughter and three year–old twins in Jerusalem.
Diane’s favourite bumper sticker reads “A mother’s place is in the wrong.”

Doors open 6:40 pm.

Sponsored by The Queenspark Development Trust, the Coastal-Burwood Community Board and Archer Kingdom Ministry Fund. Hosted by Queenspark Development Trust.
