Every Saturday morning over 100 stalls set up on the downtown riverbank in Whanganui, ready for a morning of conversations, coffee, the selling of their variety of wares and some great street food to enjoy.

There are plants, flowers, clothes, artists, craftsmen, jewellery makers, up-cycled creations, sculptors, artisans and lots of other really clever people making creative homewares and gift items.

And then there is the Farmers Market with local and regional produce. Seasonal foods such as asparagus and berries & salad greens.

Herbs, honey, handmade sausages, the finest cuts of meat, eggs, artisan sourdough bread, croissants, custard filled specialty doughnuts, paleo baking, these are just some of the items you need in your weekly grocery shop.

There are cloth bags to purchase so you need never use a plastic bag for shopping again. And to top it all off we have food trucks and vendors selling street food to satisfy any taste preference.

Hangi, pulled pork with crackling, dumplings, sushi, Welsh pasties, fried bread, bacon and egg rolls, sliced ham sammies, egg tortilla, delicious slices, nougat, gluten free baking, Hungry? You won't be after visiting our popular and busy market.Think of it as therapy.

For the mind, for the body and for the soul. And a special shout out for our community fundraisers, we have two sites a week where they can hold raffles, sausage sizzles, let us know about upcoming events etc, and even the local councils come down to talk to our community about what they are doing or planning to do.

If you want to know what Whanganui is like as a place to live, then the Saturday Markets are a snapshot in time!
