West African Dance Dunedin presents an invigorating integration of dance, drumbeats, chant, and storytelling. African diasporic rhythms from West Africa to America transform South Pacific sonic landscapes. Co-creative processes of live percussion and movement reveal interactive synergy, and dazzling physicality. This 40-minute work of insistent groove and melodic interludes illuminate the power of joy and human spirit.

Featuring choreography by Ojeya Cruz Banks (University of Otago) in collaboration with singer Aroha Ngatai and sensational local dancers.
