The Thirsty Dog, 469 Karangahape Rd, Newton

The Solomon Cole Band are a hot quartet comprised of bassist and veteran UK songwriter Lee Catlin, Waiheke Island drummer Dione Denize, Vocalist Miss Sophia, all of whom stand alongside front-person Solomon Cole's wailing blues-soul vocal delivery and guitar.

Their aim is to create a set of explosive and exalted blues, rock and soaring soul-based songs that land somewhere between artists like The John Spencer Blues Explosion, Black Keys & Gary Clarke Jnr meets early Tina Turner, QOTSA and Led Zeppelin in a modern take on traditional music.

In their first 12 months they supported veteran American artist Martha Davis & The Motels on their NZ tour, recently headlining both nights at The Okere Falls Festival 2015, opening night NZ Fashion Week 2015 and played wherever they could set up including acceptance to Little Day In Festival, Rangihoua Olive Festival, Music In The Parks, and Sanctuary Sounds.

Cowboy Dan puts jangly guitars, upbeat rhythms and poignant lyrics at the forefront as they craft their unique brand of alternative rock. Formed in late 2015, the four-piece from Auckland write songs that exude both energy and sentiment.

Recently supporting Jordan Luck Band and playing a spot at the Auckland Music in the Parks series. This band is Jangly as. Check out their delightful new video for 'Happiness'.

Velvetland - This 4-piece master a blend of driving 70s style power pop, 60s melodic jangle and 80s US/GB/NZ indie with moments of psychedelic ambience and atmospheric guitars. Founded by Alex Baker, Jordan Bradly and Owen Bradley in November 2013.

Formed from the remains of indie four piece Aspens, Auckland-based Velvetland are four members - Steve Wikiriwhi (lead guitar), Owen Bradley (drums), Jordan Bradly (bass) and Alex Baker (guitar, vocals).
