Get ready for a truly entertaining night of great music with some of New Zealand's best storytellers - the Andrew London Trio and Wayne Mason.

Andrew London's whimsical songs reflect mainstream Kiwi culture with gentle irreverence, and playfully lampoon many of the country's obsessions and taboos. 'Let's Talk About Me', 'I Hugged My Mate', 'Country's Buggered'... the titles say it all.

Andrew's music runs the gamut from rugby fans, driving habits, youth culture and weddings to male insecurities, technophobia, household appliances, pretentious socialites, and various other issues of concern to the average middle-aged, middle-class Antipodean baby-boomer.

His delivery is wrapped in an easy-going and accessible 1940s-era 'Hot Club'-style swing package, with occasional sallies into folk, blues and western swing; tied together with Andrew's easy-going audience banter.

The trio has released more than a dozen albums, mostly Andrew's own original material, along with Hot Club Sandwich, The Cattlestops, and self-titled.

Recent reviewers have compared Andrew London to John Clarke, Tim Minchin, Flanders and Swann, Tom Lehrer and Noel Coward. Andrew's songs have been included in a national Year 13 English syllabus, two feature films and European CD compilations. The trio has performed at festivals in Australia and Norfolk Island, and is the only recent Kiwi act to have performed in Saudi Arabia.

Andrew's wife Kirsten accompanies on bass guitar and contributes the occasional standard from the Doris Day and Peggy Lee songbooks. Woodwind exponent Nils Olsen, who featured in Cavalcade Marlborough's RNZAF Jazz Orchestra show in July, improvises jazz-influenced saxophone and clarinet solos.

The trio is joined in Blenheim by national treasure Wayne Mason (The Fourmyula, The Warratahs, Rockinghorse) on rollicking barrelhouse piano - it's going to be a brilliant night!
