Over three consecutive Wednesdays in August over drinks and nibbles.

While ‘The Body Laid Bare’ is fresh in our minds, this year the TJ McNamara Winter Lecture Series will extend and enrich our appreciation of the use of the human form in art.

Rather than focusing on the unclothed/naked body, the Series will explore the use of the human form for the expression of human emotions: energy and pathos. The musculature often is used by artists to express energy, while the curvature is used to express pathos.

In this exploration, the Series will focus on six sculptures: Donatello & Michelangelo, Bernini & Canova; Rodin & Henry Moore, with references to contemporary works and attitudes, international and national.

Looking forward to this immersion in the art with an impassioned expert, keeping warm on these winter evenings.
