Take the evening off and enjoy the dance-inspired music of great composers. Christchurch chamber orchestra Resonance Ensemble present ‘Spring Fantasies’.

Conducted by Christchurch conductor, bassoonist and saxophonist Helen Renaud, and led by violinist Cornelia Didenco, Resonance performs Dvorak’s Czech Suite of five dance-based movements composed in 1879, together with one of Brahms’s most popular Hungarian dances.

Also on the programme is Haydn’s ‘Armida’ – from the opera which the composer considered his finest (first performed in 1784), and Schubert’s Symphony no 8 (Unfinished).

The programme is complemented by Honegger’s 1920’s Pastorale d’été (Summer Pastoral) inspired by a holiday in the Swiss Alps.
