Ever wanted to try your hand at improvisational acting? It's a great way to develop self-confidence, exercise your wit and make new friends by learning to create stories on the spot.

Here's how instructor Brendan "Monty" West describes this class at Healium:

"Social Improv is a slightly different kettle of fish to what you may have seen in the comedy clubs and television shows. Designed to address problems with fear, and develop a community esprit de corps, it is a holistic approach to how we play. How do we create narratives out of nowhere, drawing from the best in ourselves? Will they be humorous? Dramatic? Meaningful? This practice frequently opens up yawning doors of self-discovery and insight into how we relate to others. It is conducted with no limit on age or experience; all the better to test our limits in a safe environment."

Brendan "Monty" West is an actor and playwright with the following qualifications from the University of Waikato:

- BA - Theatre Studies, Screen & Media
- Honours Degree - Theatre Studies
- Graduate Diploma (ENGL)
- Master of Arts, 1st Class (Theatre Studies)
