New Zealand’s basic rules of how we govern ourselves are difficult to find, hard to understand, and too easy to change. We need a modern constitution to fix that.

Former Prime Minister of New Zealand, Sir Geoffrey Palmer and Dr. Andrew Butler are appearing at this very special event, organised by the Friends of Hastings District Libraries. They will talk about the book they have written: “A Constitution for Aotearoa New Zealand.”

Their talk, like their book, proposes a new constitution that is easy to understand, reflects New Zealand’s identity and nationhood, protects rights and liberties, and prevents governments from abusing power.

We may take photographs or video recordings during events and programmes which may be used in Council promotional material.
