The Perfect Match of Sauvignon Blanc from Whitehaven Wines and Marlborough Produce from the Vines Village Cafe to celebrate International Sauvignon Blanc Day.

May 5th 2017 marks the 8th annual #SauvBlanc Day. Celebrations begin in New Zealand and travel around the world with people using Twitter, Facebook and Instagram to show their appreciation of Sauvignon Blanc. To really make the most of #sauvblanc day Wine Marlborough has launched ’16 days of Sauvignon’.

For the 16 days of Sauvignon, starting Wednesday 29 March, Whitehaven & The Vines Village Cafe are offering visitors to its Cellar Door the opportunity to experience the diverse styles of Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc.

The company has also put together a special 3-pack offer of the styles of Sauvignon, which can be bought at the Cellar Door or online through the Whitehaven Wine Club, in an effort to encourage everyone to experience the diversity of Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc and post their comments and photos on social media using #SauvBlanc and #whitehavenwines to win a Whitehaven tee.

Best of all, on Friday 28 April the Vines Village will be matching these three wines to fresh Marlborough Produce in the Vines Village Café with a special lunch event.

Book your place now on (03) 572 7170.

The three wines being tasted in the Cellar Door and the special 3-pack offer includes Whitehaven’s quintessential Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2016, the Whitehaven Marlborough 'Hidden Barrel' wild yeast, barrel fermented Sauvignon Blanc 2016 and the Whitehaven Marlborough 'Greg' Reserve Series single vineyard Awatere Valley Sauvignon Blanc 2015.

Visit the Whitehaven Wines Cellar Door, Sign up or login into the WineClub to purchase in time for 5 May.

Whitehaven Wine Flight Lunch:
Presenting the Whitehaven Wines Sauvignon Blanc Tasting Flight – 3 glasses of Whitehaven Sauvignon matched with 3 dishes from Head Chef Fran Nolan at the Vines Village Cafe, 193 Rapaura Road.

Whitehaven Greg Reserve Sauvignon Blanc 2015:
Honouring the memory of Whitehaven founder Greg White (1952-2007) the prestigious limited edition “Greg” series showcases wines exhibiting exceptional varietal character. Sourced exclusively from the Alton Downs vineyard in the Awatere Valley, this handcrafted wine is an outstanding expression of terror. Intensely aromatic, with ripe tropical fruit, crushed herbs on the palate and minerality, characteristic of this cooler sub-region.

Food Match:
Matched with Pelorus Pearl Cranky Goats Cheese
With Roasted Pear, Rocket and Walnut

Whitehaven Classic Sauvignon Blanc 2016
Food Match:
Matched with Citrus Cured ORA King Salmon,
With Roasted Pear, Rocket, Walnut & Quince Chutney

Whitehaven Hidden Barrel Sauvignon Blanc 2016:
This is a winemakers experiment of barrels of wine that they keep secretly hidden away while they branch out and do things a little differently. Made from carefully selected fruit, this barrel fermented alternative style of Sauvignon Blanc undergoes a wild ferment before being aged in older French oak barrels. The result is a dry complex wine with a silk texture, grapefruit and hints of gunflint.

"Fresh, lively, oak-influenced Sauvignon Blanc with well-packed nectarine and greengage fruit flavours on a fine-textured palate." - Raymond Chan, NZ

Food Match:
Matched with Fried Cloudy Bay Clam Popcorns with Jalapeno and Lime Mayo
