Join the RNZB for a day – watch the dancers warm up in company class, see a working rehearsal, and come to kids’ dance and fencing workshops.

Programme:
Soundings Theatre, Level 2.

Company class:
10am–10:30am & 10:30am–11am

Watch RNZB dancers do their daily warm-up, from stretches at the barre to complex jumps, turns, and combinations.

To allow as many people as possible to enjoy this special experience, the class will be split into two 25 minute viewing sessions. No booking required just turn up on the day.

Working rehearsal:
11:15am–11:45am, 11:45am–12:15pm, 12:15pm–1:45pm, 1pm–1:30pm & 1:30pm–2pm.

Get a taste of the RNZB’s new production Romeo and Juliet, led by guest choreographer Francesco Ventriglia.

Fencing workshop: 2:30pm–3:30pm & 4pm–5pm.

Watch or take part in a fencing session for kids, including instruction and a demo from Fencing Central.

For ages 9–17. Non-marking footwear essential.

Story time with Sir Jon Trimmer
10:30am–11:05am, 11:30am–12:05pm, 1pm–1:35pm & 2pm–2:35pm.

Legendary dancer and performer Sir Jon Trimmer introduces one of ballet’s most-loved stories – Romeo and Juliet. Explore the art of mime and gesture while hearing this captivating tale.

For primary school–aged children.

Dance workshop: 3pm–3:45pm & 4pm–4:45pm.

Explore characters, steps, and scenes based on the ballet Romeo and Juliet. Learn some simple ballet steps and positions, led by RNZB dance educator Pagan Dorgan.

Te Huka ā Tai Discovery Centre, Level 4
Face painting, colouring, and dress-ups: 10am–5pm

Get creative with fun activities - try on costumes, have your face painted, or take time out by colouring in.

Hinetītama, Level 4
Craft activities for kids: 10am–5pm

Have a go at making an amazing mask, materials supplied.
