Rob Ruha

New Zealand/Aotearoa - Music.

Multi-award-winning artist Rob Ruha describes his music as “haka soul”.

A solo artist and composer, he champions the voice and stories of Māori through stirring performances that are haunting, uplifting and beautiful.

A kaitiaki for the environment, Ruha is renowned for his powerful embodiment of lyrics, fusing classic Māori poetry with the magnetic sounds of today.

Rob's music is an eclectic mix of soul-roots-reggae with RnB licks, laced with rock-blues and bohemian-jazz-fusion accents. This is grounded on a solid bed of traditional tribal rhythms and the power of kapa haka.

An acclaimed ambassador of Māori music, Ruha is in demand all over the globe to share his unique brand of music from Aotearoa.

Of Te Whānau an Apanui, Ngāti Porou, Te Arawa, Ngāti Tūwharetoa, Tainui, Rongowhakaata, Ngāpuhi, Ngā Ariki-kaipūtahi descent, Ruha sings in te reo Māori and has won a long list of national awards for his music.
