Restorative Yoga is a great tool for managing chronic stress and pain. Practising it at home can be as simple as spending 10 minutes in just one or two poses at the end of a long day. But which poses do you choose? How do you know what you need? How do you set up the pose for your body?

Join our very own Megan Sety for this 2-hour workshop and learn how to create a Restorative Yoga practice at home. Megan will take you on a practical tour of some of the most common and accessible Restorative Yoga poses. You’ll learn their benefits, how to set up the pose and make adjustments for your body. She’ll also talk about which poses to choose when and how to sequence more than one pose, with plenty of time for questions.

More than simple relaxation, Restorative Yoga offers physical and mental health benefits that can be helpful for stress relief, insomnia and managing chronic pain. This form of yoga focuses on passive resting postures designed to let the muscles and joints release tension and recover. We stay in the poses longer to allow your body and mind to progressively and gently let go of tension.

To make it comfortable to rest in the postures for longer periods of time, we use a variety of bolsters, blankets and blocks to support your body. When you take the time to relax in restorative yoga postures, you stimulate the parasympathetic nervous system - sometimes called the ‘rest and digest’ response - which effectively counteracts the physical effects of chronic stress and cues your body to shift to a state of relaxation.

This workshop is suitable for those new to and experienced with Restorative Yoga. However, to make the most of the workshop, you may wish to consider coming to our Sunday Restore classes for an introduction or refresher to Restorative yoga. In these specialty weekly classes, you will experience a 60-minute restorative yoga practice focused on resting and rejuvenating muscles, releasing tension and finding a deep sense of calm.

Limited to 12 students to allow time for focused attention and question/answer discussion.
