Predator Control Workshop for farmers, landowners or anyone wishing to learn how to trap pests.

This event is part of Conservation Week 2017 - conservationweek.org.nz.

Programme: Welcome, Health and Safety, Introductions.

Current best practise predator control in a rural environment (Darren Peters, National Predator Control Specialist for Department of Conservation).

Current best practise predator control on a landscape scale in the Hawkes Bay area. (Rod Dixon, Hawke's Bay Regional Council).

Lunch and then move to the Whangawehi Stream for a practical demonstration.

Four sites will cover different topics with a rotation every 30 minutes:
- Coverage, location and siting your traps or bait stations – how to ensure eradication of all predators. (Rod Dixon).
- How to set up traps so they work effectively - Baits, lures. Maintenance What to avoid. (Darren Peters).
- Good Nature Traps – How to get the best out of them. – Sam Gibson Technical Expert. (Goodnature Limited).
- Collecting information, Predator Identification. Trapping applications and technical aids.

Please wear outdoor clothing. All participants will receive a take away pack.
