Experiment with underpainting, using wax-based encaustic, collage, modelling paste, this class will use Jasper Johns as an example of an artist using texture and depth using a structural approach.

How did this artist create media-based works of texture and depth using a structural approach? You will experiment with under painting using wax-based encaustic, collage, modelling paste combining words and signifies important to our own individual lives and art journey.

Johns is best known for his painting Flag (1954–55), which he painted after having a dream of the American flag. His work is often described as Neo Dadist, as opposed to Pop Art, even though his subject matter often includes images and objects from popular culture. Still, many compilations on pop art include Jasper Johns as a pop artist because of his artistic use of classical iconography.

6-week course for $225 (37.50 per class inc materials) or $75 for whole Sunday including morning drawing class and afternoon painting class (inc materials).
