Ever had an epiphany in the supermarket? We did when we realised you’re never going to get a good watermelon if you’re buying them in April.

Ever seen God in the supermarket? We haven’t, but one of the characters in our Play On play reading has - and it does not go down well with his nearest and dearest.

Play On is a play reading series of New Zealand work presented by local performers. There is no cost to attend the event, a koha donation is optional. Seating is limited so it’s best to get there early to get a good spot.

Happy hour runs from 5pm - 7pm and our good friends at Abracadabra serve up $6 tacos on Tuesdays. ‘Nuff said.

Read by Richard Rugg, Ian Stabler and Simone Walker.
Running time approx. 80 minutes

Presented by Big Picture Minor Deets by arrangement with Playmarket.

Note: Some content may offend.

About the play:
Matthew, Mark, Luke and Joanne tells the story of Matthew who has a spiritual experience in the Organic, Ethnic and Gluten-Free aisle of his local supermarket. This profound change cannot be accepted by his yoga-loving wife Joanne or Mark, his materialistic best friend and business partner.

About the playwright:
Carl Nixon won the prestigious Katherine Mansfield Literary Award in 2007 and the Beatson Fellowship in 2011. The radio adaptation of his play The Raft won the Best Dramatic Production 2009 at the NZ Radio Awards.
