Te Waha o Te Kuri:
9:30 am - Ferry Reserve, Woodville (SH 3, Manawatu Gorge - eastern side)
As part the Tū Te Manawa Project, the ‘Te Waha o Te Kurī’ whare is the first of eight whare to be constructed along the Manawatū River between 2016-2018. The purpose of the Tū Te Manawa Project is to enhance both iwi/hapū and community involvement in restoring the Manawatū River.

The project also aims to generate interest in community science, and an increased appreciation of the river and what it should mean to us and future generations. This is the second planting day for Te Waha o Te Kurī with 600 native plants to be planted, the first was held in November of 2016 with 400 planted.

Bluff Road Riverbed:
12:30 pm - Bluff Road (SH2, between Woodville and Mangatainoka)
The Department of Conservation, Horizons, Tararua District Council, Te Ahu a Turanga Marae and Te Kāuru are working together on weed clearance and beautification of this area through funding from DOC Community Fund. Bluff Road Riverbed is 9 km south-east of Woodville and has been used by fishermen and the wider community as a recreational area for years.

This planting day is part of preserving and protecting the river and the river margin and bringing back the community awareness of this area. There will be signage on the corner of SH2 and Bluff Road, (between Woodville and Mangatainoka) to direct the community to the site.
