If you have a DSLR camera and you need a hand to learn how to use it, this is ideal for you. Come and learn how to take low light photographs.

I've set myself a goal for 2017: to help 1,000 people get a lot better at photography.

I have run lots of these PhotoWalks (totally free of charge) around New Zealand and overseas to help people get better at photography. If you're using your camera on auto, you need to come along and join in with us on this PhotoWalk.

After this, you should be able to take nice low light, long exposure photographs that will impress your friends.

On the evening:

7.30pm - First I'll do an intro and running through a few camera settings that you can try. Then we'll set off for a walk for a couple of hours, moving slowly as people stop and photograph things that they see along the way. I'll set challenges and give tips on what your camera settings should be depending on the amount of light we have through the evening.

To bring:

- Bring your camera (obviously). This can be a DSLR or just your mobile phone, it doesn't bother me too much, the more people I see getting into photography the better! (note, mobile phones probably won't be able to take long exposure shots like cover photo).
- A tripod. Big or small, some people even just bring the little week bendy-leg tripods, they work, but you need to be able to keep your camera steady for long exposure shots.
- A jersey/jacket, you don't want to have to leave the fun early just because it's cold.

Meeting point is the i-Site Visitor Information Centre on Wainui Road, 7.30pm.

To get a jump start and really make the most of this awesome evening, sign up for my free online photography course and start learning the basic camera settings that you'll need on this PhotoWalk.
