This exhibition celebrates the life and work of Wellington artist Patricia Fry, an example of personal dedication to the research and practice of painting and drawing over a 70-year period, rare in today's art world.

Patricia's art career began with a chance meeting with Barc - Helen Crabb, an icon of the local art scene - who invited her to classes run from her Hobson Street studio where the importance of drawing and study was established. It was there that Patricia met and sat for Joan Fanning, Betty Clegg, Helen Stewart, Louise Henderson, Sidney Higgs, Marjory Mills and Stewart MacLennan.

Using pastels and oils, Patricia has focused on the nude, drawn and painted. Here, as well as in her portraits and landscapes, she demonstrates an insightful eye for people, places and events from her life and the recent history of Wellington.
