Situated in the ballroom at historic Alberton, a Heritage New Zealand run homestead built in 1863, 'Paper House' is a wire frame construction containing over a thousand scrolled photographs submitted by artists, photographers and the general public on the subject of ‘A Piece of Home’.

Visitors are invited to enter this rudimentary dwelling to view the photographs and choose one to take away as a souvenir. Transformed by this engagement, the walls become transparent as their paper components are removed; the house gradually losing its materiality over the duration of the exhibition.

Come along to the opening on Saturday 3 June at 3pm to learn more about the project's evolution from 'Paper Fort' to 'Paper House' from the artists Max Irving-Lamb and Jessica O'Reilly, Masters of Architecture students at the University of Auckland. No booking required. All welcome.

Admission to 'Paper House' is free.

To view the rest of the house normal fees apply: Adults $10, children & Heritage New Zealand members free.

This exhibition has been curated for the Auckland Festival of Photography and is supported by the Albert-Eden local board.
