8 days of fun free events for all families to enjoy, locals and visitors alike! Awesome fun for the whole family during the long summer holidays at no charge.

8th January:
Bay of Islands Rotary Club Beach Dig and Fun Day out! From 9.30am, Beach Dig 10am, Paihia Beach (Kings Rd end). The Beach Dig is a fun event for kids aged 4 to 10 years of age! Heaps of fantastic prizes. Come along from 9:30am to enjoy games and the Rotary BBQ.

Circus Workshop on the beach! 11am, Paihia Beach (Kings Rd end).
The Biggest Little Circus can teach you all sorts of tricks from juggling to headstands! The start of a career as a circus performer! All ages welcome! You need to bring your own juggling balls - tennis balls are great!

9th January:
Bay Beach Hire “Kids Duathlon”, Meet at the Bay Beach Hire Kayak Shed on Paihia beach, (Kings Rd end). 9am registration, 9:30am safety brief and start - The event is running and kayaking. Entrants must be 8 years and above. This is a fun event and all about having a go!

Anne of Craicor “Cardboard Creations!” 1pm, Paihia War Memorial Hall, Williams Rd.
Let’s build! Use your imagination - robots, rockets, cars, boats and other cool creations! Using cardboard, tape, string and some colour! We will supply cardboard and tape – but if you have extra – please bring along!

10th January:
Paihia Dive - Kids Fishing Competition -Paihia Wharf, register at Paihia Dive on Williams Rd from 9:30am. Fishing starts 10:30am and finishes at 11:30am. Bring a hand line or rod, we supply the bait. Kids don’t forget to bring an adult.

Northland Age “Monster Mural painting, messy fun and self - portraits!” - 1pm, meet on the Village Green. All materials are supplied. Wear some old clothes. Let’s get creative together!

11th January:
Bay Beach Hire – “Games on the green” - 10am, Village Green - Old fashioned races ...sack, 3 legged, wheelbarrow.

Flying Kiwi Parasail “Pirate Day” - 2pm - Paihia Memorial Hall. Create your own Pirate profile, pirate games and a do the ultimate pirate treasure hunt! Dust off your pirate clothes. Arrr! Arrr! Me hearties!

12th January:
Dolphin Battleships – with the Department of Conservation - 2pm - on Te Tii beach by the kid’s playground. Come and be a bottlenose dolphin for the day! Feel what it’s like to be a bottlenose living in and around the Bay of Islands. Free games and activities and giveaways for kids of all ages.

13th January:
Cellini’s - Street Smart Funky Art Pavement Drawing! - 10am, Meet behind the Pharmacy on the Village Green. Chalk art for all ages, with lots of handy tips from our judge - the world - famous photographer Frank Habicht!

The Project Island Song - Amazing Race - 2pm, meet at Horotutu Park. Follow a set of clues and challenges to complete this fun race. Participate as a pair or a group. Kids need to have an adult supervising on the race.

14th January:
Harcourts – Build a boat! - 10am Paihia Beach (Kings Rd end) - Build your own boat - we will provide the materials and you and your team need to make it.

15th January:
Harcourts Sandcastle Competition - Judging 4pm, Paihia Beach (Kings Rd end) Prize giving 4:30pm.
Awesome prizes and giveaways! All ages! Adults, kids, families, mates! Anything goes! Use your hands or a bucket, a shell or a shovel. You can start building anytime you want!

Events to suit all members of the family - free to join in.
Please note: Kids must be supervised by an adult at all these events
