A community event celebrating the opening of the Glen Innes to Tamaki Drive Shared Path Stage 1, including information session from Auckland Transport about Stage 2 through Pourewa Valley and a chance to give them feedback on the design.

For walkers, bikers, pram pushers, skateboarders - everyone welcome! Check out the fantastic views, get some exercise, and spend time with the wonderful people who live in our neighbourhood. Suitable for families and absolutely free.

We're planning to have an informal coffee at the start, a gentle cruise or stroll up the path, a useful information session giving details about the next stages of the path, and for those that are keen an extended ride around the length of the next stage through Meadowbank.

Our stroll up the path will start at the Glen Innes end at about 10:40am. Everyone is invited to come and join the organisers for brunch at Columbus Cafe Glen Innes from 10am.

There will be information about the route, and future stages, at the top of the path from 11:00am, prizes will be drawn by Councillor Desley Simpson and at have very kindly come along to listen to our feedback on Stage 1 and the plans for future stages.

We'll then head off on a cycle tour around the Stage 2 area to see it from all sides and get more information about where it'll go. Further coffee stops will be taken on the way! We'll go at a gentle pace and stop along the way at some stunning view-points to look out over the native bush and see where Stage 2 will travel down the valley.

This free event is organised by volunteers from Bike Eastern Suburbs, Friends of Pourewa Valley, and the Meadowbank & St Johns Residents Association.

See the Facebook invitation for more details.
