Broods

Although many species of Dinosaur went extinct 65 million years ago, a few survived and have radiated.

Learn how to recognise the descendants of theropods outside your window. Dr Mary Morgan Richards of Massey University will compare her pet dinosaur (a chicken) with other theropods like Tyrannosaurus. Some characteristics are similar due to a common ancestor. We can look at birds from a whole new angle when we recognise that brooding eggs, growing feathers and breathing with hollow bones (you read that right!) are all things that theropod dinosaurs did.
