After a hugely successful 1 day workshop in April at Te Oro we are working with Action Education and Ken Arkind to deliver the Ngahuru: Spoken Word series.
This 8-week series introduces participants/students to the art of spoken word poetry and help them to begin crafting their own poems.
No experience required.

Spoken Word is poetry that has been written to be performed and is based on the interaction between the performer and the audience. Many rappers like Kendrick Lamar have a Spoken Word poetry background but Spoken Word is not rap. There are similarities such as the use of wordplay, rhyme and rhythm but Spoken Word poetry is not usually accompanied by music.
At its best, Spoken Word is a powerful, high-energy form of expression that attracts artists and audiences of all ages from a wide range of backgrounds.
Action Education (facilitator – Ken Arkind)
