Spend the weekend in silent practice to look inward and practice mindfulness on the cushion, walking, eating, and in everything you do. There are many benefits to developing mindfulness, including more focus, pleasant physical states, and a calmer basis for emotions.

Applied correctly, mindfulness is practised as a basis for developing positive states of mind like loving kindness and compassion. Some previous experience with meditation is recommended even though this is a beginning level retreat. Led by Sarah Brooks, Mahamudra Centre's Spiritual Programme Coordinator.

Participants will be required to turn in their cell phones and electronic devices by the beginning of the retreat and will have them returned Sunday lunch. Please plan to be out of touch from work, family and friends for the duration of the retreat to help create the conditions to have silent contemplation in retreat for yourself and those around you. You will find a small travel alarm clock or watch to helping keep the time over the weekend.

Course begins 6:00 pm on Friday with dinner followed by an evening session, and ends at 2:30 pm Sunday. Pre-registration essential by 2 September.
