Tuesday night is open night – All welcome to the Wellington Buddhist Centre.

This evening is the fifth in a series we are doing on Great Buddhist Teachers of the Past. Tonight there will be two short presentations followed by meditation.

Achalamuni will tell us about Buddhaghosa (4th C) who converted to Buddhism and trained in Sri Lanka. He wrote “path of purification”, a guide to the path of ethics, meditation and wisdom.
“No doer of the deeds is found; No one ever reaps their fruits: Just bare phenomena roll on, Dependent on conditions all”.

Chris will talk about Chih-I (538-597) became a monk at 17 he was a great teacher of monks, royalty, and ordinary men and women. He believed study and meditation were both indispensable. As well as being a great scholar, he was also a great builder and organiser, founding 35 monasteries.

The evening begins with a short talk on an aspect of Buddhism with opportunity for questions and discussion; then a tea break; followed by a period of meditation.
Each evening is stand alone, even when it is part of a series.

Entry by donation: Suggested donation for low income entrants $10.
