To coincide with International Earth Day and the global March for Science on Saturday 22nd April 2017.
“A celebration of all that is renewable, sustainable, healthy and carbon zero in Marlborough.”
The inaugural ‘Marlborough Earth Day Party’ brings together Marlborough businesses and the local community, to showcase and learn about the benefits of renewable energy and transportation, low carbon technologies, sustainable food production, plant-based diets and the importance of conserving Marlborough’s flora/fauna for future generations.
As New Zealand faces the challenge of transitioning from fossil fuels towards a carbon zero future, we must now re-imagine and re-engineer our economy and our way of living, to place lower demands on the planet’s finite resources.
The Earth Day Party will give children, mums ‘n’ dads, grandparents, local business people, community leaders and political representatives an opportunity to learn how to meet that challenge by adopting low carbon technologies, vehicles and equipment; taking steps to reduce emissions of carbon and other harmful waste products, and by making other positive changes to our lifestyles to help preserve our beautiful environment and wildlife and stabilise our climate.
The event will include exhibitions/demonstrations of renewable energy, including solar, wind and hydropower; electric transportation including e-bikes, electric cars and motorbikes; battery powered mowers, weed-eaters, chainsaws and other tools/equipment; sustainable agriculture/viticulture/ forestry practices as well as focussing on conservation of our native wildlife.
Local purveyors of organic whole foods and drink will ensure party-goers are well fed and watered and music/entertainment will be included.
So come along to the party, enjoy some healthy food/drink and entertainment and learn what you can do to save the world on Earth Day 2017.
