Mamma Mia: Outdoor Movie Night

Sorry this event has been and gone

  • Mon 13 Feb ’17, 8:30pm – 10:20pm

Southern Cross Garden Bar Restaurant, 39 Abel Smith St, Te Aro, Wellington

Ticket Information:

  • Free Admission

We’ve all been there: You have 3 one night stands in a row, fall pregnant and then 20 years later your daughter tracks all three down on her wedding day using only the songs of ABBA in an attempt to find out which is her father. Sound familiar?

This Valentine's Eve, bring your guy, gal, lover or pal down to ours for a night of cheesy romance, Swedish pop music and Greek beauty. Sit back, enjoy (and possibly sing-along) while the faces and voices of Meryl Streep, Colin Firth, Pierce Brosnan, and the rest of the cast of 2008 British hit film Mamma Mia fill our Garden Bar's big screen with a story of love, in all its shapes and forms.

As always, our Outdoor Movie Night is free entry, and we'll have themed drinks, popcorn, blankets, hotties, and movie snacks available.

*Although we're hoping that the Wellington weather pulls through, and we won't need them!

It gets dark fairly late in February, so the start time will be 8.30pm. That mean's there's plenty of time to enjoy our one of various Monday food deals in the sun after work, with the film kicking off once it gets dark!

Happy Valentines!

About the Film:
Mamma Mia
Sophia Sheridan is 20 years old and lives with her mother Donna on an idyllic Greek island. She is about to be married and wishes for only one thing: that her father walks her down the aisle and give her away. The only problem is that she doesn't know who her father is and her mother won't discuss it with her. After she finds her mom's diary from the year she was born, she invites three men who could possibly be that man.

Sophie is convinced that she will know her father as soon as she sees him but soon realises that she hasn't a clue. Mayhem ensues when her mother is displeased and confused that the three are there, the men all think they're the father. As complications ensue from the misunderstandings, Sophie's wedding and relationship may be jeopardised, while, finding what is truly in their hearts, many may discover the course of true love.

Our licensing laws forbid us to allow patrons U18 in our bar after 5pm, so please do bring your ID with you - or bring your parent along if you aren't 18 and above.
