Leap 2017: CANCELLED

Sorry this event has been cancelled

  • Thu 24 Aug ’17, 5:30pm – 7:30pm

Papa Hou, 12 Hereford, Christchurch

All Ages

The YMCA invites you to join us at a career night, unlike any career night you have seen before! Think career night meets musical chairs.

This event is your opportunity to connect with 25 highly diverse people who have been brought on board to share their personal experiences and to help answer the sometimes stressful questions about life and careers.

So, whether you struggling to work out what you want to be when you grow up, or maybe you are the opposite and you know exactly what you want to be but would love an opportunity to talk with someone who works in that field. Either way, LEAP is the event for you.

LEAP has been designed by a group of young YMCA leaders to provide a space for other young people to come, meet and talk with members of the Christchurch community about all the tricky decisions that appear towards the end of high school. Should I go to university? What about Polytech? Maybe a trade would suit me? Would a GAP year be a better option? Is it okay to change my mind/be unsure? - the list really could go on and on.

LEAP will be set up so you can come along with friends and have small group conversations with people from diverse backgrounds who have a range of career experiences. You will be able to hear about their career and life journeys and then ask any questions you might have. Every 10 minutes when music plays you will change seats and talk to someone different. We hope you will leave the event with new connections and an expanded knowledge about career pathways.

LEAP will happen in Papa Hou at the YMCA.

This event is aimed at 13-19 year olds.
