What is Kirtan?
Kirtan is a very different kind of music. Based on ancient chants, it has the ability to quiet the mind if listened to with intention. Everyone experiences kirtan differently, but it is usually described as an uplifting and enlivening experience. A kirtan concert is not your typical concert either. You can think of it as a sing-along in which the kirtan singer and the audience alternate in singing the mantras.

The leader sings the mantra, and the audience sings it back. A single chant can go on for 30 minutes to many hours. As you sing with each other you experience a deep connection with yourself and everyone else. Some kirtans are very meditational others do 'rock' and it is not uncommon that people get up and dance.

But there are a lot of things about the kirtan experience you cannot put into words, so just come along and find out yourself!
