Ashton Brown -
High energy. Ridiculous. Sincere.
Ashton is a story telling comic with a background in acting and writing for theatre and screen.
He performs with an honesty, an awkwardness and a self-deprecating charm that sees him continue to rise through the NZ comedy ranks.
With 4 NZ International Comedy Festival shows under his belt in just 3 years and numerous years of MC experience, it's clear Ashton knows exactly what he is doing. Whether you are laughing with him or at him, the results are still the same - hilarity.
"Ashton’s performance was high energy, sincere, and wonderfully self-deprecating." - The Speakeasy.
"Ashton Brown is an endearing, self-deprecating, jovial chap....a nice one-two punch of youthful Kiwi comedy worth checking out." - 3 News.
"Their sets are both tight. There is no dead air and no lulls between belly laughs. These guys know exactly what they are doing." - Theatrescenes .
Luke Callaghan -
Born in New Jersey, raised in northern California, and exported to his parents’ homeland of New Zealand, Luke Callaghan has a knack for roasting both Kiwi and American culture alike.
Having won the 2013 NZ Comedy Guild Award for Best Newcomer, Luke now performs all over New Zealand and has been in 2 NZ International Comedy Festival shows, a 2014 RAW Comedy Quest Grand Final, and a minor altercation over a parking spot.
“Easily one of the smartest young comedians in NZ…genuinely funny and very topical.” - Brendhan Lovegrove.
David Oakes -
A self-confessed Skiwi (Scottish Kiwi) and frustrated mobile DJ, David first hit the Comedy stage in 2010 after discovering he really preferred to be on the mic to spinning discs. Since then he's gone from strength to strength performing in line-up shows alongside some of the best local and International comedians including Paul Ego, Ben Hurley, Urzila Carlson, Gordon Southern, Tom Binns, Marcel Lucont and the late great Ewen Gilmour.
He was a semi-finalist in the 2012 RAW Comedy Quest and picked up NZ Comedy Guild Award nominations in 2012 and 2014 for Most Outstanding contribution to the industry.
He’s also made some vain attempts to boost his comedy career by appearing on TV's Shortland Street, Power Rangers and TVC’s for Toyota Camry, Bay Audiology, and ANZ.
David Oakes has a slightly distorted view of the world we live in delivering clever witted anecdotes and random one liners. David performed his first festival show, The Nowhere show in 2012 in the NZ International Comedy Festival, Scotch and Wry in 2013 outside of the festival and Limited company in 2016.
"Clever witted and articulate, a winning combination" - NZ Comedy review.
“A great level of wordplay and charm” – The Speakeasy.
James Keating -
Since he first set foot on stage in 2001, James has carved out a niche as New Zealand’s master of one-liner comedy.
His clean stylings have been enjoyed by audiences throughout New Zealand and Australia, and he has performed five solo shows at the New Zealand International Comedy Festival.
James was nominated for the prestigious Billy T Award for comedy in 2009 and has appeared on TV2 ‘Pulp Comedy’ and ‘A Night at the Classic.'
"Quick, clever, intelligent rapier wit." - TVNZ.
