Rollin' thru NZ with Kenny Rogers and the First Edition.

An interviewer in Farmer’s Market in Los Angeles asks members of the American public if they know where New Zealand is situated. Most do not know the answer.

Kenny Rogers and The First Edition travelled through New Zealand by bus for 3 weeks from 15 November to 5 December 1973, visiting various towns and cities, performing at different venues including the Christchurch Town Hall, marae, and Richard Campion’s farm (where a young Jane Campion is filmed) and doing impromptu performances for hosts during their travel. The group thoroughly enjoyed the hospitality of New Zealanders.

The film was post-produced at the Hollywood home of the band’s manager Ken Kragen. Tony Willams was the director, editor and co-cameraman.

From material preserved and made available by Ngā Taonga Sound and Vision.
