Jian Liu is a very talented and sought-after solo pianist, chamber musician and educator across the globe. His artistry has taken him to some of the most prestigious concert halls - including Carnegie Hall, Steinway Hall in New York, Rose Hall of Lincoln Centre, Sprague Hall and Woolsey Hall of Yale University and Paul Hall of The Juilliard School.

He has also featured as a soloist with the Symphony Orchestra of National Philharmonic Society of Ukraine, Phoenix Symphony Orchestra, Christchurch Symphony Orchestra and Yale Philharmonia (among others).

Jian is a dedicated and enthusiastic chamber musician, who has played on various chamber series in Singapore, Australia and New Zealand with Te Kōki Trio, the resident trio at New Zealand School of Music.

Committed to education, Jian Liu has served for four years on the faculty of the Yale Department of Music and is currently the Programme Leader of Classical Performance and Head of Piano Studies at New Zealand School of Music (as well as the Honorary Piano Professor at Qingdao University in China).

The programme called "First and Last" is unique - with two pieces from Beethoven, Brahms and Chopin, one being the first piano piece they wrote and the other the last. This programme is dedicated to the memory of Jack Body and will also feature two short NZ works, the first by John Psathas and the second from Jack Body.

The Motueka Music group is delighted to be able to host this inspiring performer in association with Chamber Music New Zealand.

Tickets from Floral Affaire, Motueka. (Door sales available).
