The International Rugby Club’s Giant Haka event is an attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the Largest Haka and surpass the current record held by the French. In 2016, Wairarapa REAP (Rural Education Activities Programme) galvanised Masterton Schools and local community to stage a haka which had 6,102 participants. This attempt is currently awaiting verification from Guinness World Records.

The Giant Haka is supported by Rotorua Lakes Council and the Rugby 2017 Festival and features the famous Ngāti Toa “All Blacks” haka Ka Mate. Be there early, and make the most of your build-up to the British and Irish Lions v NZ Maori All Blacks match that evening in Rotorua at 7:35pm.

The event is free to participate but we will be asking for a gold coin donation for a local community project in Rotorua.

Arrive early to guarantee your participation!

We found this clip that will help you get the actions down before you come to Rotorua for the Giant Haka challenge on June 17: https://vimeo.com/216584619

Keep an eye out for updates and RSVP via the IRC's Official Facebook event.
