Climb up through four remote private properties off Montgomery’s Road above Little River and visit their amazing combined Banks Peninsula Conservation Trust bush covenant. Start in regenerating forest, following the Huka- Huka Turoa stream and then through established kanuka and gorse scrub to grasslands. Climb to the ridgeline overlooking the little-known Kaituna Spur Scenic Reserve. Experience a changing landscape from retired farmland to established native bush with some of the landowners whose inspiration drives this splendid project.

Duration: 6 hours including time to carpool to start

Walk difficulty: Hard

Walk length: 7kms

Wear tramping boots. Bring water bottle, food, layered clothing, sunhat and waterproof jacket
