In these modern times we all experience challenging situations that produce stress and interfere with our happiness. By relying upon Dharma – Buddha’s teachings taken as personal advice – we can effectively transform such problems and challenges into personal and spiritual growth.

Instead of becoming stressed and feeling overwhelmed, we can learn how to view the situation in a special way that causes our good qualities to increase. Instead of being at odds with life, we learn from it and become stronger, more inspired and more reliable. Everyone can benefit from these ancient instructions to make modern life truly meaningful.

This 9-week course on Saturday mornings is based on the remarkable book Universal Compassion – Inspiring Solutions for Difficult Times by the great Buddhist author, Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso.

We will have the opportunity to study, contemplate and meditate on the section of the book that teaches us many practical and profound techniques for transforming the problems and adversities of daily life into the path to enlightenment.

The teachers of this course will be the Buddhist monks Gen Togden and Kelsang Pawo, who bring a wealth of knowledge to inspire us on the practice of these precious instructions.

“We need to transform whatever circumstances we meet, whether good or bad, into the spiritual path by channelling all our actions in a virtuous direction. This practice is extremely important. Those who engage in it successfully will never have to experience anxiety or discouragement but will be able to remain calm and peaceful in all circumstances.” – Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche

About the Teacher: Kelsang Pawo
PAWO is a Kiwi Buddhist monk who moved to Auckland in early 2017 to become the Education Programme Coordinator for our Centre. He is very dedicated and committed to spiritual development.

Pawo teaches General Programme (GP) classes and substitute teachers Foundation Programme (FP) classes on Saturday mornings. His teachings are based on his personal experience and reveal his sincerity, thoughtfulness and a good sense of humour.
