Golder Cottage

"A time capsule in our own backyard".

Built in 1876 by John Golder it was the Golder family home for three generations until 1985.

The rooms are furnished much as they were when John, wife Jane and their twelve children lived there. The cottage is home to a fascinating collection of memorabilia and furniture, some of which belonged to the Golder family.

The garden still retains its original shrubs and trees, water pump and outbuildings giving the visitor a snapshot of Victorian family times.

Golder Cottage is open Saturdays and public holidays: 1:30pm - 4pm (except Xmas Day and Good Friday). A small entry charge applies.

Current display board features Upper Hutt man, the late Len Rink who acted as Father Christmas at Hazelwood's Department store in Upper Hutt for 26 years.

Open Day - Wellington Anniversary Day, Monday January 22nd 2018, 1.30 – 4pm.
"Somewhere in time" Step back to earlier times - you are all invited to dress and look the part or simply come along and enjoy the music. Between 2-3pm the Jasmine Violin Trio will be playing Chamber Music and our Organ. (Free Admission or Koha for this day).

Hope we see you there!

Group (schools, clubs or tourist) bookings for visits during the week are by arrangement.
