Be part of the Open Orchard Project and have your own heritage fruit trees!

The goal of the Open Orchard project is to get a diverse range of old varieties of healthy heritage fruit trees back into our Southland communities. This is important for the preservation of resilient varieties, preservation of skills, increasing access to healthy locally grown food, and the preservation of our heritage.

The annual Heritage Fruit Tree Sale is coming up! These bare rooted heritage trees are for sale for the Southland area only and must be picked up from Riverton. The sale weekend is the 5th - 7th August 2017 from 10am to 4pm daily, any trees remaining will be for sale during the afternoons following the fruit tree sale.

Please note that we do not post trees, all trees ordered must be collected.

The fruit tree list will be released to the public on Friday 14th July. Contact us at office@sces.org.nz if you want to be added to the database to receive the fruit tree list every year (The list is usually available to our members in May for pre-orders and the public in June).
